Journey To The Promised Land: Faith & Creation
Journey to the Promised Land Session 1: Faith and Creation
Questions:
1) Can you think of an occasion when God’s creation / the natural world has had an emotional / spiritual impact on you? Where were you and how did you respond?
2) Why do you think these moments have this impact? What do they reveal to us about God?
Read Psalm 8
3) Psalm 8 is as good a passage as any in modelling a worshipful response to God’s creation. What can we learn from it? How could you seek more of these sorts of experiences?
Read Romans 1:18-21 and Genesis 3
4) What does this Romans passage tell us about the wrong response to God’s creation? What wrong thinking might lead us to this response?
5) What did you learn in the sermon on Sunday about the definition of sin? How does the account of Genesis 3 illustrate this?
6) What do Genesis 1 and 3 tell us about the relationship with God we were designed for? In what ways does it offer us freedom, peace and joy?
Read John:1-5 and 9-13
7) How did Jesus offer us a return to that relationship?
8) How does Satan seek to deprive us of this? How can you guard against his deception and lies?
9) Pray for the group to grow in their response to God’s creation and to Jesus’ redemptive work.
