Sharing the Love

“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations” [Matthew 28:19]

30 June is World Social Media Day, a global celebration of the power of social media and its transformational impact on communication, connectivity and information sharing that brings together individuals, communities and businesses around the world.

In today’s digital age, social media is more than just a place to share photos or catch up with friends—it’s a powerful tool for ministry. As members of the body of Christ, we are called to be salt and light in the world (Matthew 5:13–16), and that includes the online world. Here’s how each of us can use social media wisely and purposefully to spread the gospel.

1. Be Intentional with Your Posts

Every post is an opportunity to reflect Christ. Share Bible verses, uplifting messages, testimonies, and church events. Let your content be filled with hope, love, and truth. Ask yourself: Does this post glorify God? Will it encourage someone today?

2. Engage, Don’t Just Broadcast

Social media is a two-way street. Don’t just post—interact! Comment on others’ posts, respond to questions, and join conversations. When people see genuine care and interest, they’re more likely to connect with your message and your church.

3. Share Your Church’s Story

Use your platform to highlight what God is doing in your church. Share photos and videos from services, outreach events, and testimonies of transformed lives. People engage with people so pictures of your ‘everyday’ are more likely to go viral and land on the screens of your friends, their friends, and their friends’ friends! Encouraging your own church family but also inviting others to be part of the journey.

4. Be a Digital Disciple

Use your personal account as a ministry tool. Share your faith journey, what God is teaching you, and how you’re growing. You never know who might be watching and needing the encouragement to take a step towards Christ.

5. Practice Grace and Wisdom

The internet can be a place of conflict. As believers, we are called to be peacemakers. Avoid arguments, speak the truth in love, and always represent Christ with humility and grace (Colossians 4:6).

6. Invite and Include

Don’t underestimate the power of a simple invitation. Share your church’s recorded services, invite friends to events, or tag someone in a post that might bless them. A single click can lead someone to a life-changing encounter with Jesus.

Social media is a mission field. Let’s use it to build bridges, not walls—to share the good news, not just good vibes. Together, we can light up the digital world with the love of Christ. You can start by following our social pages via the links above.
