Introducing Revd Tom Darwent
We are delighted to announce that Revd Tom Darwent has been appointed as our new Rector (subject to DBS and medical clearance). Tom is currently Vicar at St Paul's Camberley in the Guildford Diocese as well as being Priest in Charge of Heatherside.
Tom is from London, but has previously ministered in Claygate and Guildford. His wife Kate grew up locally and works at the Guildford Diocese; they have two children.
On accepting the position Tom has said "It is a privilege and a joy to have been appointed to this role, though we will be very sad to leave St Paul's and Heatherside Churches. I first felt God laying Ashtead on my heart some time ago. It is a church with such great potential, incredible resources, wonderful people and a rich heritage. I am excited about helping the church fulfil its potential as we focus together on discipleship and mission to the parish. We're also excited about moving into such a lovely community, close to our families and many old friends."
Please pray for Tom and his family as they prepare for this move in the coming months, for his current churches as they seek a suitable replacement for Tom, and also for our whole church family as we prepare to warmly welcome them to our community.
