Be Me Project

Be Me Project is delighted to be one of the new mission partners supported by the Parish of Ashtead. We are a charity helping secondary school students and women in the community who are struggling with anxiety, low self esteem or other emotional issues. We run courses and events that enhance positive mental wellbeing and build confidence and resilience in schools, GP centres, women’s hostels, youth clubs and community groups. Our Head Office is based in Dorking and we have teams in Surrey, Kent, Brighton and Cumbria.

As with every grass roots charity, life has been challenging since the start of the Covid 19 pandemic and we are so grateful for God’s provision throughout. It has been a year of adaptation to ensure our provision of services is sustained:

  • A self completion workbook was created and sent out to 500 vulnerable young people at home during the Spring 2020 school closure.

  • We developed a digital provision for mentoring and group work so we can reach people in lockdown.

  • In the Autumn term 2020 we ran 27 of our new ‘Covid safe’ courses face-to-face (18 in Mole Valley) supporting 85 young people.

  • Since January 2021, all our courses are now online until we can safely resume face to face gatherings.

“The Be Me course made me think about how to deal with situations in life and feel a lot less stressed over them. I learnt all about me and that I’m worth just as much as anyone else. It was really nice to meet up online during Covid and do the ‘Who am I’ book because lockdown was a very uncertain time with an uphill battle, so just knowing someone understood my mind and could guide me through was a massive relief and began to change my outlook on life”

We would value prayers for:

  • wisdom in planning our services and continuing to adapt to the effects of the pandemic.

  • provision of funds and being able to expand our services to meet growing need.
