Mission Partner: The Music in Ministry Trust

This August we were back in prison after 18 months of lockdown.  During Covid our prison work changed.  We couldn’t take teams in, sending faith building materials became a slow process as boxes had to be stored in overcrowded storerooms till deemed safe.  There were times all we could do was pray, and distribute information to Intercessors.  We’ve used the down time to produce material for prisons and for general outreach - last year the CD Peace &   Understanding, this year the album Ready Or Not.  Through the recording process we’ve also been able to give work to musicians and creative ministries with little outside income source.

Ready or Not will be launched at the CRE Exhibition at Sandown Park on 14 Oct. We have been given a display throughout the exhibition, with information about the ministry and a concert event. The heart of our ministry remains prisoners and ex-offenders, making their plight known. The prison system has suffered greatly through Covid.  Overcrowding, abuse and suicides have increased.  When finally released there is a lack of available homes for ex-offenders, making many more homeless.

The women were strong in faith despite 18 months lockdown.  Chaplaincy put this down largely to a gift from Nazareth Way for the purchase of CD/DVD players for the women’s cells.  Through this they have been able to enjoy specially made services every Sunday.  ‘Remember those in prison as if you were there with them’.  Thank you for all your prayers.
