And The Silver Goes To…

We are delighted to announce that we have been awarded the Silver Eco-Church award for Ashtead Parish!

We were awarded the bronze level in 2022. Since then, led by the Caring for Creation team we have worked hard to improve both our actions and our awareness of Caring for God’s Creation.

This award is based on a survey widely recognised by many church organisations including the Church of England. The survey covers five areas: worship and teaching, buildings, land, personal lifestyle and community and global engagement. The two areas we have been particularly focused on over the last 3 years have been personal lifestyle which looks at how as a church we are encouraging our members to live more sustainably, and global and community engagement, which is how we work with our community and policy makers to prioritise Caring for Creation.

We are very encouraged by this award, but we do recognise that there is a still plenty of work to do for all of us as we seek to incorporate Caring for God’s creation into our personal lives as well as our church life. This is particularly important as we continue to see more extreme weather events such as floods, storms and fires impact communities around the world because of the effects of Climate change.
