New Wine Discipleship Year

More than just a gap year

The Discipleship Year is about growing as disciples of Jesus, learning how to serve him and his Kingdom with the whole of your life, for the whole of your life.

It will take you on a life-changing journey of discovery and adventure, where you’ll be inspired, get practical Kingdom experience, make life-long friendships, and have a lot of fun in the process. It’s also free, and we can help you find somewhere to live.

For 2024 applications, please email New Wine directly:- dy@new-wine.org

Who is it for?

The Discipleship Year is for ANYONE aged 18-24 looking to:

  • Grow confidence in who God has made you to be

  • Discover the purpose he has for your life

  • Get involved by serving in a local church

  • Discover, exercise and nurture your spiritual gifts and passions

  • Be challenged to step out, risk and see God work through you

  • Experience the adventure of overseas mission

What does it cost?

The Discipleship Year will cost you nothing! We have decided to cover all your teaching and training, including two national Discipleship Year weekends away (October and January), the New Wine Leadership Conference, and more.

If you don’t live locally, we can help you find accommodation nearby.

There may be an option of a short-term mission trip with either the regional training hub or one of our mission partners. This would be an optional extra.

When would I start?

Term starts September 2024 and lasts until July 2025. You will spend one day a week at our regional training hub in Ealing (travel expenses will be covered), and then four days a week (including Sunday) will be on placement with us.

You are also expected to serve on the team for one week of the New Wine United summer festival, which is a fantastic experience.

What can we offer?

By joining St Giles’ & St George’s Ashtead, you can specialise in Children, Youth, Young Families, Worship, or Creative Media, and gain experience in the whole variety of church life including Mission, Tech, Prayer, Young Adults, Events, and more!
