Building Community 2 - Acts 2:42–43
Questions:
1) Do you generally expect God to do extraordinary things?
2) Would anyone be willing to share an example of a miraculous occurrence or answer to prayer?
Read Acts 2:42-43
3) What do you think is the link between these two verses? What do we need to do or commit to, for God to then act?
4) What is awe and what produces it? How could we grow in awe?
5) What do you think the miraculous signs and wonders might have been? What might they be in our time and context?
6) What is the connection between miracles and people coming to faith (see v47)? Can you give a modern day example?
Read John 14:9-14
7) Jesus said “The words I say to you are not just my own. Rather it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his work” (v10). To what extent is this also true of us as Christians? At what points in your life have you felt most strongly that this has been the case?
8) Jesus also said “anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing.” How would you apply this and how can we make sure we live this out?
9) Why do you think Jesus said we will do “even greater things” (v12)?
10) Jesus said “I will do whatever you ask in my name” (v13). What do you think this means and how can we apply it? Use your group prayer time to put it into practice!
