1) Share one of the most important decisions you’ve ever had to make. What advice (if any) were you given?
Read Deuteronomy 31:1-3 for context and then our main passage Deuteronomy 30:11-20
2) God had told Moses he would not reach the promised land himself (31:1-3). How do you think that influenced his words in our main passage (30:11-20)?
3) Why is v11 important? Do you see God’s purposes for our lives as achievable? What does v14 mean and how is that encouraging to us?
4) What did ‘life and prosperity’ mean to the Israelites? What did death and destruction mean? How did later Old Testament history illustrate this?
5) What for Christians does ‘life and prosperity’ mean? (See John 10:9-10 for Jesus’ perspective)
6) What is death and destruction for us? In what ways does Satan seek to steal and destroy?
7) How easy do you find it to love God? How do we do it and how can we grow in it?
8) What stops us walking in obedience to God’s laws and commands? What advice does Colossians 3:1-14 give?
9) What does ‘worshipping other gods’ mean for us?
10) How do you personally ‘listen to God and hold fast to him’?
11) Share any ways in which you want to grow in love, listening and obedience to God. Pray into these things.
