‘Bryn-ging’ Hope to Prisons and the Homeless
The legendary slide guitarist, Bryn Haworth gave a performance of songs from his albums and shared stories with more than 150 at St George’s Church last weekend, in aid of The Music in Ministry Trust.
Bryn found work as a session guitarist whilst living on the streets of London in the 60s. He has been playing guitar ever since, having recorded 22 of his own albums and worked as a session guitarist with many musical legends including Jimi Hendrix, Gerry Rafferty, Chris de Burgh, and Cliff Richard.
The audience enjoyed a selection of Bryn’s best loved songs and also heard stories from Bryn on how he was first called to ministry and his current focus on the revolving door of prison and homelessness. There were also guest appearances from some of the charity representatives supported by The Music in Ministries Trust, each of whom had a ‘ministry stall’ offering further information. A delicious spread was provided by St George’s Café, and Bryn also sold a number of his CD’s.
The concert has raised more than £2000 for the Trust, which will be distributed evenly between some of the charities close to Bryn and his wife Sally’s hearts, including Renewed Hope, Church Homeless Charity, CPR (Christian Prison Resourcing), and Prison Fellowship - each of which serve prisons and the homeless.
Thank you to Bryn, Sally and the rest of the team, for performing and organising the concert here at St George’s. It was great to be a part of such a worthy event and we hope that all those who attended enjoyed the performance and were inspired by Bryn’s testimony.
