“Be steadfast and do little things.”
St. David, the patron saint of Wales, lived a life that epitomised humility, devotion, and service. Born in the 6th century, David was known for his austere lifestyle and unwavering commitment to spiritual growth. He embraced a life of abstinence, consuming only water and bread.
He also made significant contributions to the spread of Christianity by founding monastic communities across Wales. These monasteries were not just places of worship but also centres of education, hospitality and charity.
St. David passed away on March 1, 589 AD and 1 March has since been known as St. David's Day in Wales. A time for Welsh people to celebrate their heritage, language and culture. His final words are thought to be “Be steadfast and do little things.”
