Have Your Say: Support the Future of St Giles’ School

Our church school, St Giles’ Infants, is currently the focus of a consultation on becoming an all-through primary school. This is a brilliant development that will preserve the future of the school, better balance pupil numbers across the village and offer a continuous Christian education for ages 4-11 for the whole of Ashtead!

However, as with any consultation, your support is crucial. Please do take a moment to indicate your support, by reading the consultation document HERE, and submitting your response.

Points to highlight might include:

·         St Giles’ wonderful history, providing education for over 150 years to the children of Ashtead

·         The high quality of its teaching staff and facilities

·         The importance of Christian education within the village

·         The nurturing, pastoral nature of smaller, ‘village school’

·         Its links to St Giles’ Church and the positive benefits to both parties

·         Ensuring a balanced spread of school places across the village

·         Providing a local school, that is easy to walk to, for the families of Ashtead Village

Mixed year classes have been successfully introduced at a number of smaller schools around the country and diocese, including at St Giles’ sister school, Riverview C of E Primary in Ewell.

This is a truly exciting development for both the school and the church. Please do respond to the consultation before the deadline of 5pm on 3 July 2026. You can respond online via Surrey Says, or by completing the consultation response form HERE.

You are also warmly invited to attend one of the public meetings on 25th June (9am or 7pm) at St Giles’ C of E School.
