Bring Your Bottle and Make A Difference

If you haven’t noticed yet, the old water cooler at Reception at St George’s has been replaced with a new water fountain and refill station combo, and the café’s water cooler has been removed. This “small” switch is big news for so many reasons:

  • Budget-friendly: Believe it or not, the Church was spending over £800 per year just on the blue water cups at St George’s!

  • Better for the planet: Those “paper” cups are lined with a thin plastic film to prevent leaks. Logical, yes—but that means they cannot be recycled locally and have been contributing to landfill waste.

  • Health-conscious: That same plastic lining can release microplastics into the water, which then enter our bodies when we drink from them.

The better way?
Bring your own reusable bottle to church, your class, or meeting—or simply enjoy a refreshing sip straight from the fountain!

A huge thank you to Jeremy Pearson, Facilities Manager, for making this happen!
