Mission Partner: Be Me Project

Be Me Project runs courses to enhance mental wellbeing and raise levels of self esteem, confidence and resilience. The charity supports secondary school students and women in the community who are struggling with anxiety, low self esteem and other emotional issues.

It has been another challenging year, having to navigate all the practical issues of the covid pandemic, but since schools went back in person in March 21 we have been operating on a mainly face to face basis. Be Me has expanded our reach into the local community, supporting 170 secondary school students and women in the community in Surrey in the last year (and another 220 in Cumbria, Kent and Brighton).

We are very excited to start this term in Rosebery school (along with our current local schools of Therfield, The Ashcombe and The Priory). We have also connected up to receive referrals with the social prescribing team for Ashtead, Leatherhead and Epsom and we are running an online course in partnership with the Mary Frances Trust based in Leatherhead. We are also starting a course at a local Christian-run women’s hostel.

Be Me Project is extremely grateful for the support SGSG has given to our organisation. We have recruited two new trustees and two course leaders from the Parish and special thanks go to the Oasis Women’s group for their interest and support of our project.

We would value prayers for:

· each person we support, that the courses and events provide a stepping stone towards transformation and enabling them to thrive.

· discernment, energy and resources as we continue to grow as an organisation.
