Discovering Faith, Friendship and Fun at St George’s

As many of you will know, our Youth Life Groups meet on Thursday evenings at St George’s—a space where our young people, school years 6 - 13, can gather in community and explore faith together. What began last year with Alpha Youth, sharing food and diving into honest conversations about life’s big questions, has grown into something much deeper. Youth Life Groups have become a regular rhythm, a place where young people can ask difficult questions, discover what it means to follow Jesus today and encourage one another in their faith.

It’s been especially moving to hear the impact in their own words: “questions in faith answered,” “helped me become more confident,” “helped to grow in friendships.” Watching their confidence grow—socially and spiritually—has been a real joy.

Recently, we’ve seen them step out in prayer, supporting one another and offering their own reflections. There’s a growing sense of community too, with many inviting friends along, which is always wonderful to see.

Looking ahead, we’re excited to encourage some of our older youth to begin leading parts of the sessions. We want to create space for them to grow in leadership, take ownership of discussions and go deeper in studying the Bible. Their hunger to explore faith more seriously is incredibly encouraging.

We’re also looking forward to taking our young people to the New Wine Summer Festival later this year—a formative time of worship, learning, friendship and experiencing the wider church. Opportunities like this, along with Youth Catalyst Project events, can have a lasting impact.

Above all, Youth Life Groups are about belonging. They’re about creating a warm, welcoming space where young people know they are valued, heard and supported as they grow in faith together.

We meet every Thursday, during term time, in the Youth Room at St George’s Church. With years 6-9 joining us at 6.30 until 7.45pm and years 9-13 beginning slightly later at 7.45 until 9pm.
