10/05 Growing in Christ: Rooted in Jesus
Rooted in Christ
Colossians 1:15–23
Opening
What stayed with you from the talk you heard?
Was there a phrase, image, or idea that remained?
Read
Colossians 1:15–23
Take your time.
You might even read it twice!
• Who is Jesus here? What stands out to you about who Jesus is in this passage?
• ‘In him all things hold together’. Where do you feel life is held together right now? Where does it feel fragile..?
• The passage speaks about continuing in faith. What helps you stay rooted in Christ? What tends to pull you away?
• This passage reminds us that faith is not just personal, but part of a bigger whole. Where do you see that in your life? When do you feel connected, and when do you feel isolated?
• We often try to carry more than we were meant to. What are you currently trying to ‘hold together’ on your own? What might it look like to release that to Christ?
• If you heard the nature imagery (roots, water, interconnectedness), what spoke to you? If not, what image or picture helps you understand being “rooted in Christ”?
• Reconciliation of all things: This isn’t just about individual faith, but the restoration of everything. How does that widen or challenge your understanding of what God is doing?
Go Deeper (optional)
• Where in your life right now do you most need to know that you are: held, carried, sustained?
• What would it look like this week to remain, rather than strive?
