03/05 Growing in Christ: What We’re Aiming For
1) Share a time in your life when you’ve had a very clear goal. How did it motivate you and did you achieve it?
Read Colossians 1:9-14
2) Paul prays that the Colossians would be “filled with the knowledge of God’s will.” What do you think it means to know God’s will in everyday life? How is this different from simply knowing about God?
3) The passage links knowledge, wisdom, and understanding. How do you see these three working together in your own spiritual growth?
4) Paul describes a life that “pleases the Lord in every way.” What qualities or habits in this passage stand out as markers of a life that pleases God? Which of these feel most challenging?
5) The text talks about “bearing fruit in every good work.” What does fruitfulness look like in your current season of life? Are there areas where you sense God inviting you to grow?
6) Paul prays that believers would be “strengthened with all power.” Where do you most need God’s strength right now—endurance, patience, joy, or something else?
7) Verses 12–14 describe believers as rescued, transferred into a new kingdom, and redeemed. Which of these images speaks most deeply to you, and why?
8) Paul says God has “qualified” us to share in the inheritance of the saints. How does this challenge or encourage your sense of identity and worth?
9) The passage emphasizes that redemption and forgiveness come through Christ. How does this truth shape the way you respond to your own failures—or the failures of others?
10) If you prayed Paul’s prayer (vv. 9–12) for someone in your life, who would it be, and what impact would you hope it has on them? Why not commit to doing so!
11) Looking at the whole passage, what is one practical step you can take this week to walk more fully in the “kingdom of the Son” rather than the “domain of darkness”? Pray into these things.
