Life Group Notes – Safeguarding: A Safe Church is Everyone’s Job

Passage: Luke 19:11–26

Icebreaker:

Have you ever missed an opportunity you wish you’d taken? It might’ve been something light-hearted or something more serious. What held you back?

Worship:

Spend some time in worship, asking God to open your eyes to the opportunities around you and to give you courage to respond. Thank Him for the trust He places in us.

Suggested songs:

•              Build My Life – Housefires / Pat Barrett

•              Oceans (Where Feet May Fail) – Hillsong UNITED

•              Take My Life and Let It Be – Traditional Hymn

Bible Study: Read Luke 19:11–26

1.           Why do you think Jesus told this parable straight after Zacchaeus’s story? What might the crowd have been expecting?

2.           The nobleman gives each servant one mina. What might this represent for us as Jesus' followers today?

3.           What strikes you about the servant who buried his mina? What do you think motivated him?

4.           What might it look like in our own lives to 'take the opportunity' rather than bury it?

5.           How do you feel about the nobleman's harsh response? What does it tell us about how seriously God takes our call to be faithful?

6.           Are there opportunities in your life right now that you feel God might be asking you to take?

7.           What fears or doubts might be holding you back from stepping out?

8.           How can we support one another as we take risks for the sake of the Kingdom?

Prayer:

Pray for one another, especially for courage to step into new opportunities that God might be offering. Ask the Holy Spirit to stir up boldness, faith, and a willingness to act, even in small ways. Invite God to show you what He’s already given you — and how to use it for His glory.
