On Mission With Jesus: The Promise of Power

2)      How would life be different if we didn’t have the Spirit?

3)      Once it became apparent that Jesus had risen from the dead, what do you think the disciples would have expected to happen next?

4)      How did Jesus’ words in this passage challenge these expectations? How was the mission of Jesus now to be accomplished? How do you think the disciples would have reacted?

Read Acts 2:1-13

5)      Unpack the symbolism of the Pentecost story. What do the different details of the miracle tell us? What was God trying to communicate?

6)      What do you see as the main ‘functions’ of the Holy Spirit for a Christan? Which do you feel in most need of at this time?

7)      How does the Holy Spirit make mission happen in our time and context? In what ways do we need to co-operate with the Spirit? How can we support each other in this?

8)      What does being filled with the Spirit mean to you (Eph 5:18)? How can you ensure you are re-filled regularly and what difference should it make to your life?

9)      How should we pray for each other, in the light of these passages?
