Series: On Mission with Jesus
Vision 2
Text: Luke 15:1–10 (Ezekiel 34:11–16)

Icebreaker:

Have you ever lost something important—your phone, keys, child?! What did you do to find it? How did you feel when you got it back?

Worship:

Take time to thank God for finding you—for pursuing you when you were lost. Praise him for his unrelenting love, and ask him to give you his heart for the one who is still missing. You might want to sing or play “Reckless Love” or “Amazing Grace.”

Bible Study: Read Luke 15:1–10

1.         Who is Jesus telling these parables to, and why? What was the attitude of the religious people around him?

2.         What do the shepherd and the woman do when they realise something is lost? What does that say about God’s character?

3.         How do these stories challenge our focus in church life—what (or who) gets our attention?

4.         Jesus says, “There will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents…” How does that make you feel?

5.         Think of the “empty chair” image. Who in your life might it represent right now?

6.         What might it look like for you to actively join in God’s search for the one who is missing?

7.         Read Ezekiel 34:11–16. How does God describe His role as shepherd? What stands out or encourages you here?

8.         What would need to shift—in our church, in your Life Group, or in your personal priorities—to live more “on mission with Jesus”?

Reflection:

It is great to be part of a church where people are serious about discipleship. But we also want to be a church that makes room for others, that invites and welcomes, that reflects the joy of heaven whenever someone is found.

Where are the floorboards you need to sweep? What lost sheep are you being invited to go after?

Prayer Response:

Spend a few minutes in silence, reflecting on the empty chair.
Who do you know that feels lost, or alone, or far from God?
Pray for them by name. Pray for the courage to reach out.
Ask God to give you His heart for the one.

Pray together that Ashtead Parish would be a place where heaven throws regular parties—not just for depth of discipleship, but for the joy of the found.

Challenge:

We’re launching Connect Groups as a way to reach wider—through walking, books, food, craft, conversation, films. What could you lead or join? Is there someone you could bring along who isn’t ready for church, but would love to come and join in with an activity?
