Who Could You Bless With a Book?
Each year on 14 February, people around the world celebrate International Book Giving Day — a simple yet beautiful initiative encouraging us to share books and spark a love of reading. While many will give storybooks or novels, we as a church family have a unique opportunity to share a book that brings life, hope and good news.
Books have an extraordinary ability to open hearts and stir curiosity. And what better story to place into someone’s hands than the story of Jesus — the One whose words bring comfort, challenge and transformation? This year, we invite the whole church to prayerfully consider: Who might you bless with a copy of Mark’s Gospel?
It might be a friend you’ve had faith conversations with, a neighbour you’re getting to know, or a colleague walking through a difficult time. Or perhaps someone you meet in passing whom God places on your heart.
We’re delighted to offer something perfect for moments like these. You can pick up a beautifully illustrated, free copy of the NIrV Mark’s Gospel from St George’s Church foyer. Designed in a modern magazine style, it’s accessible, eye‑catching and ideal for gifting — whether someone is exploring faith for the first time or rediscovering the story of Jesus in a fresh way.
A single book can change a life — and this one has changed millions.
This International Book Giving Day, let’s join a global movement of sharing stories… but let’s share one of the greatest stories of all.
